Art Dispersal July 10, 4-9pm at Lightforms – Art and Spirit
In December 2019 Lightforms – Art and Spirit opened in Hudson New York. The opening, with over 400 people was the first fruit of three years of work by a small group of artists who were committed to the vision of an arts center dedicated to art that is inspired by spiritual questions and strivings. I was one of those artists. As the 17 months since opening have passed, I have watched as the potential of what such an art center can become stood strong in the midst of the pandemic, limited financial resources, overworked staff and volunteers, visitors from around the world and interest from the art world.
Lightforms functions something like a small museum showing work by both internationally known artists including Hilma af Klint and MC Richards and local artists. But Lightforms does not have a vast circle of support like a museum does. It relies on donations and an occasional small percentage of sales.
How is it that such an initiative can come into being, be recognized by so many people as essential to our world situation and yet to be so seriously struggling in the financial realm?
As an artist I wondered what I could do to help. I decided to offer an ART DISPERSAL.
ART DISPERSAL is a form for supporting artists, allowing people to have original art work in their homes and de-commodifying art.
You may choose a piece, take it home, live with it for as long as you like and make a contribution. If at some time you no longer want to keep the work you may pass it along to someone else or return it to the artist.

I am offering this ART DISPERSAL in celebration of Lightforms, what it is and what it can become.
I have 20 of paintings completed in the last 17 months that I will make available on July 10 from 4 PM p.m. to 9 PM p.m. at Lightforms, 743 Columbia St in HudsonNY. This is the time of the second Saturday “gallery crawl” in Hudson.
