Gabel Cramer

Ceramics Studio Manager and Director of Development

Interested in the intersection of community and art, Gabel has been excited to contribute on the organizing team of Free Columbia. Following an MA in Community Development and Planning from Clark University, he decided to further deepen his artistic practice, moving to rural Massachusetts to apprentice with renowned potter Christy Knox, and there began a clay based journey into the dynamics of form, wood-firing, and the ability of art to weave together the spiritual and the material. First finding Free Columbia through the spirit of communal wood-firing brought by Mark Rowntree, he was drawn to the people and the place, and began a year long residency in October 2024. After picking up grant writing responsibilities, he has transitioned into a greater role of director of development at Free Columbia along with managing the ceramics studio.
