Soren Dietzel

Residency Program Director

Soren Dietzel is a multi-instrumentalist, producer and performer, engaged and inspired by all things creative. But primarily he is a saxophonist. He was taught music by his mother (piano) and father (saxophone) at a young age fostering a love for classical and jazz music alike. He spent his twenties playing saxophone, clarinet and stand-up bass in old time blues and rock bands. Most regularly he played saxophone with the band 'Red Mountain,' a ten piece indy- pop band, for roughly 7 years. They played often in Duluth MN, toured around the Midwest and opened for some prominent groups like 'Low' and 'Cloud Cult.' Soren has gone on to write and produce his own music which you can find at http://www.youtube.com/@revolvingparlor. Connecting to a deep love for community building, Soren is excited to step into the position of Residency Director at Free Columbia.
